MR-Basics
Dates & Languages (planned)
Spring 2012
Participants
min. 15, max. 50 persons
Target group
This course is designed for Beginners in MRI
(Physicians, Technical Personnel, Scientists, Students)
Course Outline
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is one of the most important non invasive imaging
modalities used in Life Science and clinical routine today.
This basic course is aimed at those of you who have no or little experience in
the field of MRI and would like to understand the basic principles and
potential applications without trouble-shooting with
difficult physical and mathematical equations. This two-day course is
designed to enable participants to master the very basic principles of
MR imaging. Demonstration experiments are also performed.
Preliminary Faculty
Prof. Dr. P. Jakob, Dr. K.-H. Hiller, Dr. F. Breuer, Dr. M. Blaimer, Dr. M. Hildenbrand, Dr. D. Haddad

Course Outline
Molecular imaging is "the in-vivo characterization and measurement of
biological processes at the cellular and molecular level" and aims to image
molecular abnormalities associated with diseases instead of imaging late
changes in morphology. Today, there is rapid growth in the use of Magnetic
Resonance Imaging (MRI) for molecular and cellular imaging.
This basic course is aimed at those of you who have no or little experience in
the field of molecular MRI and would like to understand the basic principles,
potential applications and future trends without trouble-shooting with
difficult physical and mathematical equations. This two-day course is
designed to enable participants to master the very basic principles of
molecular MRI. Practical exercises are also performed.
Course Content
1. Basics of MR/MRI
2. Principles of Molecular & Cellular MRI
3. Small animal imaging
4. MR data analysis
5. Practical & Demonstration Courses
